Hailing from San Diego, Dirty Gold are a three-piece group incorporating afropop melodies perfect for the summer beach season. Highlight track “California Sunrise” is a breezy tune, which drifts along on island drums and a lilting acoustic guitar. “Sea Hare” is a bouncier tune, that strums along on a toe-tapping beat, as the singer asks the waves to hide you and me. “The Quiet Life” takes a more somber tone, but never becomes melancholy, and closer “Overboard” opens with shimmering wind chimes, and brings in drifting vocals as the singer laments I think I’m dying, I’m going overboard. It would be a sad tune, if not the for the beauty of the music.
