Throwback Thursday: Oasis – Cast No Shadow

In honor of the release of Liam Gallagher‘s new solo album As You Were, and Noel Gallagher‘s (with his band the High Flying Birds) new single “Holy Mountain“, I thought it would be a good time to fondly look back to one of the many excellent songs released when the brothers used to create together as Brit-rock kings Oasis.

While never an official single, this dreamy track from (What’s the Story) Morning Glory has always been a highlight to me. From the jangling acoustic guitars to the melancholy imagery, every note comes bursting with meaning and warmth (and getting warmth from the Gallaghers is no easy feat). And however you interpret the line “When he faced the sun he cast no shadow”, there’s no arguing the effectiveness of the line.

I’m glad both brothers are still making music, though would certainly not be upset to learn of an Oasis reunion one of these years.
