As we move further into January, there are still few major album drops, but a heap of singles are rolling out. The only significant collection dropping today is the new EP from young metal/punks Radkey, which includes tracks like the Misfits-channeling “Spiders”.
In singles, it’s hard to know where to start. For punk fans, UK Tim Armstrong-protege Rat Boy has released a new single, as have Swedish band Millencolin, Taking Back Sunday, and California scuzz rockers FIDLAR. For those more attuned to general alternative, you can enjoy new music from Catfish and the Bottlemen, Judah and the Lion, Fang Fang, and Walk the Moon. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O has also released a sweet, quiet anti-lullaby. If you enjoy that, you’ll probably also want to hear the new singles from Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish.
There’s some electric blues from Gary Clark Jr., soul from Lee Fields & the Expressions, and a whole lot more. You’ll also learn (as I did) that there is a French rap group that goes by Bush (Spotify’s Release Radar can’t tell the difference between acts with similar names apparently). Listen below.
