The must-hear albums keep coming this year.
First, overcoming some personal troubles including a cancer diagnosis, Josh Homme got a new Queens of the Stone Age album done, and we get it today. The incredibly talented Ben Howard has his latest collection of lightly psychedelic pop rock, while Deer Tick release their new one of more grounded, folky rock n’ roll. If you like that, you should check out the debut albums by Arts Fishing Club (and read our review of it here) and Malachy Tuoy.
Classic rocker John Mellencamp has his new album out today, and Icelandic indie choral pop group Sigur Ros have surprise-dropped their new album. Atlanta rapper Killer Mike‘s new solo album is finally here, and finally, we’ve got a new split EP between ska new up-and-comers Bad Operation and ska veteran Joe Gittleman (of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones).
Shock rocker Alice Cooper previews his next album with a new cut this week. The Hives have dropped their second banger from the new album, and Spanish Love Songs continue their path towards pop-punk dominance with their new cut. Suki Waterhouse has teamed with Belle & Sebastian for her latest, and the Pink Spiders keep their joyous bash going with the third song from their next album.
More new songs from acts like KennyHoopla, Amaara, Des Rocs, William the Conqueror, The Nadas, The Xcerts, Judah & the Lion, Temple of Angels and a posthumous song by Sparklehorse all proved themselves worthy of the list this week. And making their first appearances with new songs on the NMF playlist are mauve, Steve Marino, Thick, Cordovas, Walter Etc, Coach Party, Xadi, Yueku, The New Division, Stephen Wilson Jr. and Para Lia.
List to all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
