New Music Friday: June 30, 2023

It’s the final day of June, meaning 2023 is half over! And with July 4th on Tuesday, many of you are gearing up for a long weekend. Aside from the prototypical patriotic musical fare, here are the new releases you should be streaming as you go into part 2 of 2023.

UK band Nothing But Thieves are back with their new album (led by the excellent single “Overcome”). And then there’s new EPs from emo-core stalwarts Anberlin, Irish singer-songwriter Seba Safe, and alt-pop maven Maris.

With their first song together in ages, Once Oscar-winners The Swell Season are back with a new song. Their fellow Oscar-winner (as well as Grammy winner) Jon Batiste has the first single from his next album out, and rock royalty Mammoth WVH has dropped the third single from his next rock opus. We have a catch new jam from the ever-awesome Jamie T, and the next song from Canadian arena stars Arkells‘ next album.

Jeff Rosenstock, Sincere Engineer and Grrrl Gang bring us more spunky pop punk tunes, while Greta Van Fleet bathe us in their classic rock-inspired glory. Steve Marino has some lovely new power pop, while Fall Out Boy are paying homage to the 80’s with an updated version of a Billy Joel classic. There’s more soul-pop from Bianca James, and we are FINALLY getting a new track from emo kings Taking Back Sunday!

You’ll also find the latest from Audio Karate, Blur, Holly Humberstone, Robert Finley, Field Medic, Matt Maeson, The Glorious Sons, Neon Trees, Yonaka, Mother Mother, The Struts, Gal Musette and Sad Park. Artists getting their first spins in the playlist this week are Worriers, Strawberry Runners, Briscoe, Small Crush, FRND CRCL, Orions Belte, Erin K, Viv & Riley, Small Crush, ERTHH and World’s First Cinema.

Hear all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
