Former Noah and the Whale guitarist Fred Abbott has not let the dissolution of that fantastic band stop his musical ventures. His latest project since Noah ended is Fred Abbott and the Wild Unknown, where he has recruited a cadre of different vocalists to perform on these upbeat, 80’s-inspired heartland rock tracks. The latest single, featuring vocalist Dave Burn of Ahab, is the excellent “Nothing Left”.
Carrying on the tradition of artists like Don Henley and Tom Petty, “Nothing Left” is a radio-friendly rock track filled with rootsy backing vocals, melodic guitars and a shuffling rhythm. Burn brings a soulful quality to the track, while Abbott lets his skills shine in a superb solo on the bridge. It’s the kind of feel-good music that remains evergreen.
