Forming in 2013 and releasing their first music in 2015, alternative rock band The Nolas have been gaining traction in their native Montreal, as well as having their music spread abroad via rotation on satellite and FM radio stations. Following a recent vacation to Mexico, the group found inspiration in the vibrant energy of the country and wrote their latest single, aptly titled “Mexico”.
From the opening, electric Spanish guitar and Latin rhythms, the band conjures echoes of groups like The Clash in their worldly inspiration. The lyrics also capture the spirit of South America, referencing margaritas, Cinco De Mayo, and watching the waves along tropical beaches. There’s a fire in the rocking, salsa-esque breakdown in the chorus.
