So after plenty of way-too-hot sunshine, apparently Southern CA has a hurricane coming next week! Expect to stay indoors those days, and perhaps listen to some of the great new music coming out today.
Jon Batiste‘s last album won Album of the Year at the Grammys, so excited to hear what this new one has in store for us. Hozier continues to be a force to be reckoned with, and I’m sure his new album won’t disappoint. And while Genesis Owusus and The Xcerts may not be household names yet, these are both albums you should give a listen to. There’s also a new three song EP from Bad Ass Break-Out Jean Dawson.
After an accidental early release on Tunecore, Guns N’ Roses have officially dropped their new song (just as “Welcome to the Jungle” passes 1b streams). One of the best alternative rock bands out there right now, Cold War Kids, announced their next album with a new single this week. Same goes for the amazing Menzingers. There’s a lot of indie rock goodness from this week as well; two new songs from The National, a previously unreleased track from CHVRCHES, and new ones from Death Cab for Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, Sonny & The Sunsets, Bakar, Future Islands, The Drums and Daisy the Great.
Fans of more aggressive music can rejoice with new bangers from The Iron Roses, KennyHoopla, Babymetal (feat Tom Morello), Corey Taylor, Oxymorrons, Atreyu, As Friends Rust and Fiddlehead. Other groups returning to the list this week include poptropicaslutz!, American Thrills, Stephen Wilson Jr, Bearings, Jack, Black Market Karma, Wax Owls, Tash Sultana, Beatenberg, Boy & Bear, Sister Hazel, The Struts, Superchunk, Noah Gundersen and the Barenaked Ladies.
Some fresh faces on our playlist this week include Bonk! Bonk!, Simple Minded Symphony, Boston Flowers, Sun June, Avec Plaisir, Moonriivr, S/J and Super City.
Hear them all and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
