August is ending, kids are going back to school, and Los Angeles is hurricane-free again. So what tunes are out today to help us close out the summer?
Probably the biggest release we’re excited about today is the new self-titled by Americana superstar Zach Bryan. This guy’s a real one, and couldn’t be happier for the success he’s had already, which I’m sure will continue with this release. If you want to stay in the Americana/Country/Folk lane, you can also check out the latest from Hiss Golden Messenger that’s out today. If you’re like me and enjoy some punk rock, then the three releases you need to hear this week are the latest from pop-punk veterans MxPx, the latest from grouch-rock stars Spanish Love Songs (see our review of it here), and the big return from indie punks Be Your Own Pet. And for all the grunge and hard rock fans out there, 90’s legends Candlebox have released their FINAL album today.
And as far as singles go, there are a heap of new ones from huge artists this week. We’re talking songs from The Killers, Ringo Starr, The Chemical Brothers (feat. Beck), Al Green (covering Lou Reed), Yungblud, and the first new song from the Black Pumas since they broke big. There’s great new songs from some of the biggest indie acts out there, like Mitski, The Mountain Goats, A. Savage (of Parquet Courts),
Some other great acts returning to the list this week are Sea Lemon, Lucy and La Mer, Pretty Bleak, Jalen Ngonda (who was a recent Check This artist), Strawberry Runners, The Vaughns, Worriers, The Helltones, Raisin Awareness, L.S. Dunes, Mustard Plug, Des Rocs, The Beaches, and Kurt Baker. Also need to spotlight our new first-timers; The Resonant Rogues, Spelles, Joel Styzens, Lilac Haze, Spun for Miles, Course, Latewaves, Glass Violet, Foxcult, Arielle Silver, Jerry Leger and Great Northern.
And if you want to listen to all this new music and more, all you have to do is follow our New Music Friday Playlist and press play!
