Country: Italy
Since Måneskin broke out onto the world stage, there should be no doubt that Italy is a country to watch for up-and-coming rock bands. In steps Jaguero, a four-piece punk/emo band, who in their own words, want to make as much noise as possible. Listening to their song “New Love”, it’s clear they mean this literally.
Songs like that one hearken back to 90’s grunge as much as hardcore punk, with a heaviness and touch of warped tones that link them to groups like Soundgarden and Local H. More upbeat and punk is “The Worm”, which burns at a high-velocity with a mosh-ready melody. The drumming is rapid fire, and the gang vocals will have fists instantly in the air.
Even when they temper themselves on slow-burners like “Sunday”, the simmering energy eventually boils through into anthemic rock. The group’s latest track, “All I Think About”, is probably their most buoyant yet, with big pop-punk vocals and catchy hooks to bounce along to. If Jaguero keep releasing tracks like this, they’ll conquer their country sooner than later.
