New Music Friday: September 8, 2023

I hope you all had an enjoyable Labour Day weekend and got yourself mentally prepped for Fall. My holiday consisted of a rained-out pool day and a Covid scare (eeek!). Though the weather is back to summer-lite here in Los Angeles, Fall is in the air, and a ton of new releases are falling onto streaming services today.

First, we have the latest from ska-vets Mustard Plug to skank around to. Power pop duo Durry (who’s awesome video we recently covered) are sharing their debut album, and we’ve got some great rock n’ roll LPs from The Glorious Sons and Low Cut Connie (read our review here). We love Hotel Mira, so getting a new album from them is more than welcome, and soul artist Jalen Ngonda has impressed with all his singles, so the full album should be a treat.

As for singles, you can’t go bigger than a new one from the greatest living rock n’ roll band The Rolling Stones, who announced their new album is coming out next month. But also, after decades away, 90s greats Marvelous 3 are back with a new song from their upcoming album! The Gaslight Anthem shared the third single from their next LP, and the artist LP dropped the fourth song from her new album. Ruston Kelly has another beaut to listen to, and reggae-great Stephen Marley has dropped a new track with Jack Johnson.

We’re bringing back to the list Slaughter Beach, Dog, Jeen, Melin Melyn, The Moss, Lilts, Koyo, Bad Suns, Lily & Madeleine, Jolie Holland, Maris, Joyner Lucas, Killer Mike, The Struts, Trevor Hall, World’s First Cinema, Noah Gunderson, Tyler Childers, Bakar, Mom Rock, Chris Stapleton, Geese and Chaz Cardigan. And joining us for their first times are Jon Muq, Jem Cassar-Daley, Sitting on Stacy, Danko Jones, The Atom Age, Church Girls, The Atom Age, Needshes, All Day Sucker & Grayscale.

Listen to all this music and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
