New Music Friday: September 22, 2023

Did you get a chance to listen to all of the great new releases from last week? There were more than we could fit in our playlist (albums by Fences, Nas and Stephen Marley to name a few). And yet now we are back with a whole new list of albums and songs that should enter your ears over the next week.

Arkells don’t seem to take a break, as they’ve released great albums the last two years, and are now back with another. The National didn’t even wait for a year to go by, dropping their second album of the year. Scottish power-pop band Teenage Fanclub have also been prodigious the last few years with new music, and while it’s been a bit more time for them, Slaughter, Beach Dog are one of those solid indie folk groups that never seem to go away and we’re grateful for it. And even though he just came out with a #1 album a couple weeks ago, Zach Bryan is already back with a new EP!

The biggest, BIG news of this week that I’ve been waiting for for so long; blink-182 finally announced their new album is coming out next month, and dropped the title track and another song. Can’t wait for that one. But they aren’t the only awesome artist dropping new singles this week. Jack Antoff, one of the busiest men in the biz, dropped a new Bleachers song. Reggae star Matisyahu is back with new music, as are English rockers The Vaccines. And The Menzingers‘ third song from their new album is out, and it’s a beaut.

Past Bad Ass Break-Out Jean Dawson is truly ready to break-out now that he has a SZA feature. Boys Like Girls are inching ever-closer to their new album, and Dave Hause is coming back with another single to tide us over until his next opus. Bakar and Sam Barber continue their streaks of great new songs, and AWOLNATION has given us something sweet to listen to.

Hardcore legends Scream are back with their first new song in a helluva long time, previewing a new album that features Ian Mackaye and Dave Grohl. New music from Beatenberg is always welcome, and pairs well with the new The Drums song. Also, remember the massive (in numbers) group The Polyphonic Spree? Well they’re back this week too with new music. We’re also jamming the latest from Bush, Enny Owl, Glassio, Holly Humberstone, Bo Milli, The Helltones, Johnny Marr, Sea Girls, The Dollyrots, Sublime With Rome, Mona, Floor Space, Sincere Engineer and Jason Hawk Harris.

And it wouldn’t be a proper NMF without bringing some new artists to your attention. This week, we’re introducing you to Meagre Martin, J8ke, Crystal Canyons, Venus Grrrls, The Lives of Famous Men, Gone Stereo, Mae Krell, Renée Catrine, The Suicide Disease, Yester Daze, Anna Elyse and Sorcha Richardson.

Listen to all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
