North Carolina-based lo-fi indie duo Gibson & Toutant are preparing to release their debut full-length album, On the Green, no March 22nd, and today we are excited to premiere the second single from that album, “The Click”.
The song immediately piques interest with its bubbly bass line. Matthew O’Connell’s shuffling drum beat and Joe O’Connell’s whimsical guitar-picked melody blend together to create a quirky atmosphere as vocalist/bassist Josephine McRobbie tosses out slice-of-life lyrics about riding her bike past toll booths and working weekends and evenings. Collaborator Libby Rodenbough’s fiddle playing adds a folksy quality to the track, while Joe’s co-vocals calling to mind classics from groups like The Moldy Peaches. With Jake Xerxes Fussell contributing electric guitar and back-up vocals, the duo’s sound is full and fleshed out.
Be the first to listen to this quirky, indie delight here before the song is released everywhere this Friday, January 12th!
