Music Video: Jess Silber – It Hurts to Love a Woman

Though Valentines Day is now in our rearview mirror, it never hurts to reflect more on love in our current world, and that is exactly what musical artist and filmmaker Jess Silber does in “It Hurts to Love a Woman”.

The single is a heartbreaking, sparse acoustic track. Silber’s vocals are airy and sting with melancholy, as she recalls details of a painful relationship (“Remember that day you made breakfast in my shirt? To you it was nothing, but to me it meant the world”). The song is paired perfectly with a mix of candid home video clips that make you feel like you’re watching something truly intimate, and moody nighttime shots of the friends/lovers sitting together and laying in bed.

It’s a moving queer love story and a beautiful song. Watch above, and stream the track here.
