French songwriter Laurent may look like a serious figure in the picture above, but the music he composes is youthful, vibrant and full of the spirited fun of old school rock n’ roll.
On his debut single, “Dans Mon Coeur (quelques chansons)”, you might think you’re listening to a lost Beatles outtake, minus the French lyrics. Joyous, multi-part harmonies, backing “bah bah bahs”, jangly guitars and piano the ranges from rambunctious to classical, all join together for a wonderful classic power pop arrangement.
It’s the kind of song you wouldn’t be surprised to hear in a Wes Anderson film, or playing in the background at a patisserie. And it’s the first song Laurent has released. Hopefully not the last!
