There’s not a week without a slew of noteworthy releases this year it seems. Here’s what we’ll be playlisting for you today!
Gary Clark Jr. continues to branch out from being simply a guitar god on his new album. Two of the best songwriters around, Waxahatchee and Adrianne Lenker, have their new albums out today, along with Americana band The Wandering Hearts. I’ve also thrown in the latest from veteran UK alternative band Elbow, pop rock group Augustana, and a new EP from one of my faves, Ruston Kelly.
As for singles this week, one of them is basically the length of an EP; The Decemberists have dropped a 19-minute song, but knowing the band, it’s likely epic. The Gaslight Anthem are showing their Billie Eilish love with an “Ocean Eyes” cover, while Say Anything are back to their daring lyrical endeavors with their new single. Sea Girls are inching closer to their next LP with another solid single out, and if you want more Britpop, there’s new music from Travis and Kelly Jones (Stereophonics) out. Pearl Jam and Lenny Kravitz have the second teasers from their next albums here, and Joyner Lucas is joined by newly-minted megastar Jelly Roll on his new track.
New Hot Mulligan music will always have a home with us, so their new track was an instant add. Same goes for Maggie Rogers, Cloud Nothings and Beatenberg. I also could hear greatness in new songs from other alumni like One Step Closer, Matt Nathanson, Rosie Tucker, Imogen Clarke, Bob Schneider, Moby, Thick, Kawala, Another Michael, The Neighbourhood Watch, Lime Cordiale, Shannon & the Clams, Wallows, The Dirty Nil, The Story So Far, Jacob Klick, Cosmo Sheldrake, Dr. Dog, Khruangbin, Hozier, Kate Clover, War & Treaty, Andy Frasco & The U.N., Letters Sent Home, Fletcher, Standards, Eric Dash and Emmrose.
