After the crazy onslaught of new releases last week, it’s nice to have a little lighter (yet no less significant) haul for this week’s playlist.
For albums, we want to focus your attention on the latest LPs from two of alternative/pop’s coolest acts; Maggie Rogers and girl in red. 90’s Britpop mainstays James have returned with a new album, and then there’s the latest musical venture from former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler. There’s also a surprise mixtape out from Rat Boy.
There are still plenty of singles to spin this week. Thursday are dropping their first new single in 13 years. Good to have them back! Another scene back making a triumphant return are pop-punkers Mest (after teasing new music to me at their 2023 show with Unwritten Law). One of my personal local favorites, Pacific Radio, are finally back with a new jam. We’ve got two from soul artist Aaron Frazer, and one from retro soul band The Dip. Bob Schneider keeps dropping new songs for his Song Club, and a new song from Little Hurt never hurts.
Punk cover stars Me First and the Gimme Gimmes announced their new album with a cover of “Dancing Queen”, while Razor Braids continue to cut deep with their songs. Both Hot Water Music and The Hold Steady have dropped dual singles, while jam band Phish have kept things short and sweet on their new single. Other artists returning to the list this week with new music include Allman Brown, The Lemon Twigs, Collective Soul, Hermanos Gutierrez, Donovan Wood, Michael Feuerstack, Mondo Trasho, Jade Bird, Side Saddle, Slash, Wayland, Eric Dash, Cadet Carter, Taylor Acorn, Southtowne Lanes, Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties, ALEXSUCKS, Fences\\\\, Faulty Cognitions and Jennifer Tefft & The Strange.
And please help us welcome these awesome first timers to our playlist by listening to their newest tracks; Left Circles, The Flashpot Moments, Martyrs, Keep Warm, Rachel Croft, Matamoska!, Burnside Project, Jack Manley, Sons of Silver, Lonnie Walker, Jennifer Tefft & The Strange, We Demand Parachutes, Coastal Club, Holy Wire, Bobby Mahoney, Grace Pettis, Jed and the Valentine, The Rolling People, The Spase, Craig Benedict Valentine Badynee, The Mssng, Hollins, Room 308 and Chris Lanzon.
