Gulf Coast indie rock band Saint Social are new as a unit, but the four friends have all have history in different musical projects. With their debut EP, the sum of all of Saint Social‘s parts have come together for an all-around pleasing chunk of modern rock and roll.
“Clap your hands till you feel all right, get up and dance til you know you’re alive. Don’t let the fire die.” is a perfect opening line for the EP and a mission statement from the band. From the opening title track, the rousing number is filled with feel-good melodies, with a dash of folksiness that would draw comparisons to bands like Judah and the Lion or The Head and the Heart. While it would be a hit festival sing-along, Saint Social clearly want to get fans’ grooves on to.

First single “Swagger” is their bid for Sunset Strip Banger of 2024. The track is full of brash riffs, hard rock drums, hand claps and gang vocals; it’s like if the Whisky-A-Go-Go had a theme song. The bluesy vocals and braggadocio lyrics (“I’ve got that popped-up collar, flashy as a dollar”) show a completely different side to the band – they’re just as much hard rock as alternative rock. And they want to have fun.
The fun continues on the Strokes-esque beach party track “Remember?”, with its shimmering guitar tones and nostalgic bent. The band adds a level of intensity at the start with a ticking clock sample, but the melodic hooks will keep you relaxed. EP closer “Be There” goes even further, with its sunny harmonies and danceable rhythms.
Short and very sweet, Saint Social‘s debut EP is a great taste of what could be a future mainstay on the rock touring circuit. They’ve got the songs – hopefully press like this will get the word out to their future fans to start listening! The full EP is out now, and you can listen to it here!
