Washington, D.C. based duo Little Minutes (Lena Esposito and Chris Brownelle) come from different musical backgrounds, but these varied experiences only help to strengthen and broaden their indie pop sound. Having released their first single in 2017 and an EP in 2018, the duo returned this year with the new single “Crush Your Heart”.
The song has a bit of the ethereal, vibey sound of artists like Mazzy Star, but with a bit of sixties production and a slick power pop guitar line. Esposito’s heartfelt vocals on lines like “I know you’ll crush my heart before I ever know you’re gone” strike an emotional chord while never falling victim to schmaltz. It’s a perfect little single and one that should be added to indie playlists of all types.
