World Watch: Carbono Party

Country: Chile

While describing the project as “bad English punk rock solo project” in his Spotify profile, Ricardo Pozo’s (drummer for Reversa and Slowkiss) Carbono Party is far from bad. Started in January 201 in Talca, Chile, Pozo plays almost all the instruments on his debut album, and brings a passionate energy and infectious melodies to the songs.

Single “Complacency Unfounded” has the nerve and speed of early Green Day, with that band’s same knack for imbuing emotions into each verse with just a vocal inflection. “Blush Now” opens with a complex drum breakdown that takes off at high speeds as the vocals come in, with a perfect head banging chorus. There’s a youthful zeal to songs like “Statlament”, with its lo-fi recording sounding like a lost soundtrack outtake from an early 90’s skate video.

I could go on. If you like old-school style melodic punk rock, turn Carbono Party‘s debut album Superduper up on your speakers. Test out a couple tracks in our World Watch Playlist!
