Formed in 2019 in Asheville, North Carolina, Cast Iron Bluegrass garnered a following for their high-energy shows and takes on traditional bluegrass standards. Since recording their first album, including the original title track, “Blue Ridge Mountain Haze”, they have dived further into original songwriting, recently releasing the album Flicker of Love, with the excellent single “Train to Nowhere”.
A gentle, lightly melancholy acoustic track, “Train to Nowhere” is thoughtful look at the passing of time and the answers that stay out of reach (“who will I be, what will I become, questions to be answered at the setting of the sun”). With warm harmonies coming in at precise times for extra impact, and banjo and fiddle lines fleshing out the arrangement, the song is a sweet slice of Americana that will stick with you.
