World Watch: Daisea

Country: Indonesia

Jakarta’s Daisea create the effervescent kind of dream pop that can make you feel like you’re floating away on a cloud, much like the feeling of when one first falls in love. It’s fitting then that their debut album Cycles is a concept album written as a guide to first love. Structured to first explore new love (Set Off), then the complexities of relationships (Hold Off), and the healing and moving forward (Let Off), the group make listening to the album an experience.

Highlight tracks from the album include the gorgeous “Cherry Blossoms”, which brings to mind The Cranberries‘ more pop-leaning hits, and the sparkling “Kaleidoscope Love”, which manages to rock with an emotional intensity.
