Australian songwriter The Violet Twilight is a jack of all musical trades; a multi-instrumentalist who taught himself to record and produce his own music on a 4-track cassette recorder. Living in the hills of Jiggi, NSW, surrounded by more nature than people, has allowed him to incorporate sounds from the natural world into his music, such as the sound of cicadas in his haunting track “Dance Like a Flame”. The artist has said about the song:
“I spent the Australian summer recording an EP inspired by the beautiful music of the 90’s softcore, indie folk and singer-songwriter scenes. The cicadas were ever present throughout the process thus I incorporated them into my music.”
