If you thought last week’s new music haul was something, then you haven’t heard anything yet. Just read this list of what we’ve got for you today; new albums from folk rock hero Bright Eyes, wild punks Fidlar (read my review of the album here), alt-pop group BLACKSTARKIDS, SoCal punk rockers The Black Pacific (side-project of Pennywise‘s Jim Lindberg), new ska/reggae group The Calamatix, and an EP from Canadian pop-punks Riverside Drive. And as a devoted Jesse Malin fan, I had to include the star-studded tribute album to the artist meant to aid his recovery.
And the listen of noteworthy singles this week is also insane. After a five year break, Bon Iver is back with a new track. Dashboard Confessional teamed up with tour openers Boys Like Girls for a new song, and All Time Low dropped a track with I Prevail. The most fun collaborations of the week comes from Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, joined by The Linda Lindas. What a blast! Despite the bad news from their on-stage meltdown and tour cancellation, Jane’s Addiction have still shared another new song with fans, while Japandroids have shared the final single from their upcoming final album.
My Morning Jacket shares a positive message in their new jam, while Circle the Earth continue to address important issues in their latest track. 311 and The Beaches both shared 2nd singles from their next records, and Strawberry Fuzz keep generating buzz with their latest jam. It’s not “surprise” that Dawes‘ new one is great, and Felicity remain unheralded rock heroes as each new single shows off why this band should be huge. Famed metal band Body Count has reinterpolated Pink Floyd‘s “Comfortably Numb”, and after just getting a bump from Taylor Swift, The Darkness have shared a brand new single from an album coming out next year.
You can also hear the latest from Rum Jungle, Sponge, Amelle Rose, The Copyrights, Eric Dash, Bishop Briggs, half•alive, Hot Mulligan, Rimbacher, Autumn’s Grief, JD McPherson, Delights, Yola, Tonto, Seether, Sura Laynes, robbietheused, Fever 333, Kurt Baker, Joy Buzzer, Stoke Signals, Our Lady Peace, Sister Hazel, The War and Treaty, Donovan Frankenreiter, Beartooth, L.S. Dunes, Winona Fighter, Jake Bugg, Father John Misty, Josh Fortenbery, Hippo Campus, Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures, The Awning, The Low Sixes, Jean Dawson and Cliffdiver.
And some cool discoveries for you this week include list first-timers Onsloow, amilost, Hugo Joyce, Human Potential, Luke Panayiotou, Ian Fisher, Sleep State, Dakota 66, JT Loux, The Happys, The Bad Ups, Felt, Adrian Lyles, Soft Skies Inc and Dan Cook.
