Check This: Casey Frazier – Don’t Need Nobody

Artist: Casey Frazier

Song: “Don’t Need Nobody”

Album: The Cold Road EP

Genre: Rock, Indie Rock, Singer-Songwriter

Listening to Casey Frazier, you might feel like you’re stepping through a portal into a 70’s jukebox bar in the South. His voice is equal parts bluesy, soul and rock n’ roll, while he and his band The Legend sound steeped into classic arrangements that a pure Americana. It’s the kind of evergreen sound that speaks to people of all classes and from all areas of the country (not surprising that Frazier spends time in both Tennessee and California when not touring). A perfect example of his sound can be heard in the rollicking “Don’t Need Nobody”.

The crunchy rock chords launch with a strut. The organ line is simple but perfectly lays a retro foundation for the song. Frazier’s voice dances between a funky falsetto and a more soulful croon in the style of Steve Miller. With the call-and-response R&B back-ups singers, cooing over lines like “You got some growing up to do”, you feel the waves of nostalgia for a bygone era wash over you, even as the modern production keeps you grounded in the present. At one point Frazier sings “We got reason to believe that my love revolution is something that you need”. No argument – we can use it.
