We have less than a week left of Spooky Season (and then only two months left of 2024)! That’s mind-boggling! Also mind-boggling is that there’s still new music coming out to be excited about. New music like the latest albums from folk songwriter Amythyst Kiah, folk punk Chuck Ragan (read our review here), and classic alternative bands 311 (read our review here) and Pixies! Indue due Flora Cash have their latest collection of emotional songs, and for those looking for some Beatles and Big Star inspired songwriting, you’ll love the new one from Steve Robinson. Top top things off, Dazy has dropped a sweet little EP. Some excitement-worthy listening right there.
We also get to share with you new tracks this week from legends like funk-master Bootsy Collins, indie rock darlings Cold War Kids, and punk vets Good Riddance. Sharon Von Etten has formed a new band and dropped their new single, and Anna Shoemaker announced her new album with a blazing new track. U2 have dropped another previously unreleased song, and Sincere Engineer are sincerely pleasing us with their latest song.
Linkin Park have the third song of their return here for your ears, and after releasing their own albums this year, Suki Waterhouse and Ashe have come together with a new collaboration. And speaking of collaborations, The Black Keys have a new one out with the legendary Alice Cooper. Other Indy Review-approved artists returning to the list this week include Soccer Mommy, Runnner, Onsloow, Bob Schneider, The Helltones, Tom Morello, Medium Build, The Luka State, Beth Hart, Oh the Humanity!, Gigi Perez, Michael Marcargi, Katie Gavin, Jake & Shelby, Sarina, Bug Moment, Knives FL, Divided Heaven, Jesse Malin, David Gray, Sueco, Michael Kiwanuka, Ben Quad, Chiefland, Stavro, Colin Hay, Joy Buzzer and Andy Stochansky.
And as we always want to keep you updated on new artists making some joyful noise, this week we’re introducing Girl With a Hawk, Sarah Klang, Sam Himself, Georgie Benz, Jennah Vox, Luke K, The Far Field, Never Ending Fall, The Northern Line, Samantha Gongol, Metal Bubble Trio, Maya Delilah, Sareena Rama, Milky Sad, Girl Tones, Prince Daddy & the Hyena, Dave Murphy, Sophia Warren, The Altons, Old Cross and Alex Orange Drink to our playlist.
Okay, now you can stop reading and start listening to our New Music Friday Playlist to hear all of these tunes.
Nice list. We’re hitting some of the same stuff. I’m really digging that Amythyst Kiah album. “Gods Under the Mountain” was an immediate favorite off of it. And absolutely couldn’t miss The Cure’s new one. I need to spend a bit more time with it, but loving it so far.
