Dubbing themselves an “alt music think tank”, Hazy Day Parade is the project of frontman Phil-X, James-X and Corey-X. Writing guitar-driven music played with live instruments and a touch of electronica, the group focuses on catchy melodies and memorable hooks. All of these are on display on the single “Play it Backwards”.
The vocals and heartfelt melodies on the track hearken back to great 80’s pop rock. The chorus has the fuzzy harmonies that are a throwback to classic power pop. It’s a sweet little rock nugget that will stick with you as you listen again and again.
