Having toured the world a couple of times as a session guitarists, singer-songwriter Lucky Kilmartin has put the focus back on his own work with the release of his debut album Borders, Baby. A golden collection of sun-drenched folk rock and acoustic tunes, one of the stand-out tracks is the hummable “Changes”.
Featuring background vocals from gold-selling artist Briston Maroney, along with Cece Coakley and Britt Ronstadt, the elegiac song has a warm, mellow vibe that feels like the musical equivalent of laying back in a sunny meadow. The vocal melodies flourish with baroque leanings, while the lyrics lean towards the melancholy (“with all of these changes, you’re still leaving me behind”).
