Long Island, NY has a solid history of scene music. It’s where bands like Taking Back Sunday, Brand New and The Movielife were born. The city’s punk rock credentials have yet to expire, as newer bands like Gone Stereo have continued to carry the torch.
The band recently teamed up with fellow New Yorkers Something Bitter to release a split EP, which included the hard-edged pop-punk nugget “Sad Turtles”. The song has everything you’d want from a punk tune; blazing guitars, hammering drums, aching vocals with airtight harmonies. The chorus “Another Saturday night and I’m wasted” will hit the mark for any college-age person trying to figure their life out.
Like those previously mentioned Long Island bands, this song has a classic, early 2000’s vibe that will make any fans of that era’s scene music happy to hear and ready to sing-along.
