Tasks is a singer/songwriter and visual artists, but does not combine the two. When focusing on music, he does find a way to bring together the worlds of pop influences and independent song craft, creating an engaging amalgamation that has elements of mass appeal and layers of eccentricity to make his creations unique.
The final track on his latest album, “Bring on the Flood”, is a great example. The song flows off a melodic synth line, and percussion that is more soothing than abrupt. The vocals carry an 80’s lilt, with a mix of warmth and the kind of intellectual delivery that David Byrne does so well. Lyrically, there’s a great poeticism here, with lines like “Multiple years, multiple tries, Multiple failures, my how time flies” resonating with a universal power.
