
Some bands just knock it out of the park on their first try. Hidden Youth are one of those bands.
On their debut single “Vignette”, the new British band find the perfect combination of ferocious, guitar-driven punk rock and emotion-driven melody. The vocals flitter on the edge of hardcore, while delivering lyrics that are pure poetry; “Vignettes of regrets, borders fade with age. Lost the softness ripping out the page”.
Listening to this track takes me back to when I first heard bands like Taking Back Sunday and Thursday in college, with their perfect use of call-and-response vocals, difficult time signatures, layers of guitars playing off each other in dynamic fashion, and drums that just power everything along.
