Sometimes you hear a track and just know it’s bound to be used in soundtracks for future television shows or movies. Listening to UK act Perfect Cadence‘s latest single “Hero”, it feels primed to be a go-to for music supervisors.
The band, formed in 2018, first started releasing music in 2020, leaning into classic rock and country influences. The classic rock side of the band is clearly on display in “Hero”. The track has a big sound, with swelling guitars that lean into country-twang without going full-blown honky tonk. The drumming provides a solid kick, and the gang vocals on the chorus have that indescribable sound that uplifts and comforts. The lyrics of the chorus, “Every dog has its day, every demon finds a place to stay. You’ll be saved by a hero, a hero like me” stick in the memory, and the bridges brings the song into an even more gratifying level of musical catharsis.
