Here’s hoping all of you out there are surviving the continued craziness of this world. It certainly is a challenge. I certainly use music as a balm and escape, so here’s hoping some of this week’s new releases can help you.
Beirut‘s mix if indie rock and Eastern European music has always been transportive to me, so take a listen to his latest album and see if it takes you somewhere else (mentally, of course). The debut solo album by TV on the Radio‘s Tunde Adebimpe impressed our writer (read his review here), and we have little doubt it will please all the fans of his band. Julien Baker has made a name for herself as a punk-inspired songwriter and key member of folk rock trio boygenius. With her new collaboration with Torres, she’s gone country (but like, the good kind of country). We’re also sharing the debut album from indie rockers Arcy Drive, and the new EP from Cinema Stereo.
What singles grabbed our attention this week? After releasing one of our favorite EPs of last year, Reddy Hollow are back with a new single. James Bay has teamed up with Sheryl Crowe on his latest track, and The K’s have shared the third song from their upcoming album. There’s the latest from Sunset Strip rockers Buckcherry, and Canadian punk vets Propagandhi. Midwest folk songwriter Stephen Kellogg always has a place on our list with his new music, and whenever KennyHoopla decides it’s time to release new tracks like he did this week, we’ll welcome him back to the list. Lana Del Rey has the second song from her next album out, and Mt. Joy are closer and closer to a new full album, with another single from it out.
Bruce Springsteen has shared another song from his upcoming collection ons unreleased albums, and Bush show no signs of slowing down with their latest rocker. Militarie Gun have Dazy on their latest track, while the Illuminati Hotties have recruited Pup for theirs. Also honoring our playlist with their presence this week are Matt Berninger, Fontaines D.C., The Kooks, Andy Frasco & the U.N., Stay Inside, Joy Oladokun, Milk Carton Kids, Michael Marcagi, Heartwells, Jools, Patrick Wolf, Night Window, Sawyer Hill, Toomi, Old Neon, Tres Kings, Sarina, Igor Lisul, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Tash Sultana, Jade Bird, Push Puppets, Shunkan, FRND CRCL, Lukas Graham, Buick Audra, Kirsten Izer, Sam Barber, Windser, Ken Pomeroy, Mayday Parade, Theo Bleak, Geepers!, Runnner, Adrian Lyles, Wyldlife, Chloethegod, Pip Lewis and Andy Stochansky
And the worthy fresh acts getting placed in the list this week include The Shipbuilders, Gard Read, Leah Nawy, Mark Fredson, The Candy Strypers, George Houston, Somerset Thrower, Lola Kinsey, Tough Cookie, Glenna Jane, Personality Cult and secondSELF.
