From his early beginnings fronting New England funk rock band Judy’s Tiny Head (JTH), Forrest Hill has been exploring himself and musical styles. In recent years, he has teamed with produced J. Christopher Thomas, and has been writing music spanning indie rock, alternative, psychedelia, folk and country. His latest single, “Can’t Wait for a Savior” shows the signs of an artist unbeholden to genre.
Drawing inspiration from Barack Obama’s prescient 2018 warning, “You cannot sit back and wait for a savior, the track has elements of classic rock and 80’s pop rock in its full-hearted vocals and musical arrangement. Hill has one of those voices that elevates a song, adding a thoughtfulness and spiritual wisdom to his delivery that adds gravitas to the lyrics. The socially and environmentally conscious lyrics are firmly rooted in modern issues (“I hear the thunder, I don’t know what the reason is. We’re breaking down in stereo”) but are never dumbed down or preachy.
