If the picture at the top doesn’t make it clear, alt rock group Flatline don’t take themselves super seriously. That’s not to say they don’t put their heart and soul into their music, but they are clearly having fun doing it. And that fun comes through on songs like “Grab Life by the Balls”.
With it’s title already leaning into a wry sense of humor, the track carries the kind of rambunctious spirit that is best delivered from young, up-and-coming rockers like these guys. The influence of 90’s alt rock groups like Nirvana can be heard in the lo-fi, grungy delivery on the song’s verses, as they sing about life’s up and downs, and getting stuck in deeper holes. While you may think the track is going to be morose, the song suddenly bounces back with a rollicking, pop-punk leaning chorus that’s pure tongue-in-cheek joy and bravado.
