New Music Friday: May 2, 2025

The huge amount of albums dropped last week was nearly overwhelming, and May is continuing the great music onslaught.

The new month is starting off with new albums from some of the best indie women in the biz like Blondshell, Lucius and Lael Neale. There’s also some righteous punk from Propagandhi and Pup. Then there’s a new EP from former Bad Ass Break-Outs Velvet Hands. We also have an EP from new group Perfect Buzz for you to check out.

Three old school pop-punk legends have dropped new tracks this week: The Ataris, Green Day and New Found Glory are both back with more music on the way. Silverstein gave the first taste of the second part of their two-album opus, and alt pop group The Beths new singles may not be metal, but it is called “Metal”. There’s new Ruston Kelly music for us fans of sad Americana, and a new single from The Happy Fits for those who like joyous pop rock. Turnstile have dropped two new bangers, and Durry have shared the second bop from their next album.

Dispatch plan to “Whisk” us away with their new single, and Dan Mangan is lamenting “diminishing returns” on his new track. Tash Sultana has recruited City and Colour for her latest single, while McKinley Dixon gets an assist from Teller Bank$. We’ve got another track from Bruce Springsteen‘s vault, and the first taste of Wolfgang Van Halen’s next Mammoth album. Other acts returning to the list this week include Aesop Rock, Suki Waterhouse, Matisyahu, Ed Sheeran, Koffee, King Hüsky, TJ Rosenthal, Ben Harper, Sparks, Diva Smith, Maddie Zahm, Samantha Crain, American Mile, MSPaint, Chris Farren, Circle the Earth, BADBADNOTGOOD, Love Axe, Corey Congilio, Whitehall, The Manic Standstill, Streamer, Ginger Winn, Car Seat Headrest, Ben Basile, Indigo De Souza, Adam Melchor, Press Club, Codefendants and Syml.

And we get to introduce you guys to some cool new voices like Happy Little Clouds, Tolu Makay, Sammyfunk, Water Machine, Portland,  Laura Zoog, Violet Wish, Panik Flower, Michael Donello, Trevor Sensor, Ethan Daniel Davidson, Knotted Wood, Kelvin Thomas, Billy Dodge Moody, Clover, Starling, How We Feel, Lamont Landers, Lockimara and Teens in Trouble.
