Growing up, Olympia, WA was only known to me because of the excellent song on Rancid‘s And Out Come the Wolves. Well, now there’s a second reason to know it, as it’s the birthplace of indie/alt rock band Elevator Operator. The group’s music pumps up the positive vibes, as you can hear on the single “Listen” from their latest EP.
About the song, the band has said:
“At its core, it’s an introspective song about tuning in to the voice we so often ignore—our own. It’s easy to let doubt and fear drown out what we know deep inside, but this track is about breaking that cycle. The lyrics reflect those moments when we silence ourselves, only to feel lost in the aftermath. With a steady rhythm and hypnotic energy, “Listen” builds to a simple but urgent message: “You gotta trust yourself, you better listen to you.””
