The UK has no shortage of good alternative rock acts, but I will never be unhappy to discover a new one popping up, as long as they’re releasing good songs like West Midlands band Foarn. Formed back in 2023, the five-piece have been concentrating on building a live following locally, and releasing singles leading up to a soon-to-come EP. The first of these singles is the crisp “Wild Skies”.
The track carries real emotion, in both the pining vocals and lyrics (“I’ve been lost, I’ve been found. Took the long way around”), but also in the musical arrangement and guitar tones. The gang vocals provide some retro harmonies that will pull you back to the heydays of Britpop, and the song manages to have a pre-chorus that’s as catchy as the chorus.
