Artist: Jaden Wright
Song: “Common Ground”
Album: Tales of an Appalachian Trilogy EP
Genre: Americana, Folk, Country
East Kentucky songwriter Jaden Wright taps into a rich history of music, blending country, rock, Americana and folk, while using his voice as a songwriter to reflect on his own life and upbringing in Kentucky. In his latest EP, he dives fully into biographical songwriting, making a statement with its first single “Common Ground.”
About the track, Jaden has said the single is his:
“…statement as a young and upcoming artist. Referencing my own personal experiences, as well as the modern world we find ourselves living in real time. I utilized my influences to create a narrative rich in texture and emotion, supported by blaring guitars and a whaling organ. “Common Ground” is meant to be heard as loud as the message it presents…”
Like his musical hero Neil Young, the track builds off a base of roots rock and folk, and kicks things into a higher gear with rock-driven electric guitars and socially conscious lyrics addressing the state of the country (“Is it just the price you think you have to pay, that makes you turn your back, that makes you walk away from me? From your brothers and your sisters in your country that are fighting for peace”).
