We’re in the thick of summer, but it feels like there haven’t been any true summer bops for the non-Top 40 crowd. Tracks with chill, island grooves, simmering lyrics, and a bit of delicious tongue-in-cheek cheekiness.
Enter Groove Incorporated. The project is spearheaded by New Zealand based producer and ex-club DJ Michael Fredrickson, who’s tunes blend hip hop, pop, reggae and R&B for a sound that just shouts “summer”. And on his latest single “Thinkin of You”, where he’s joined by two female vocalists, he’s made a silky jam that will sound perfect coming from your speakers this season.
And with the song, Groove Incorporated has released a beatific music video for the track. Set appropriately at a beach, the video blends beauty shots of the track’s two vocalists, at times performing, at other times running into the ocean, and mixes them with a light, comical narrative of a guy (potentially a philanderer) getting dragged across the beach, having his head phones cut, and being put through a number of other trying circumstances.
Light, funny and endlessly watchable. Enjoy the video above, and stream the track in our Easy Breezy Weekend Morning Playlist.
