Vancouver’s InSignals may be new, but the four members are long-time local musicians. Back in May, the group released their debut EP, The Art of Fragmenting Time, a tight collection of melodic punk inspired by groups like Millencolin and Face to Face. The group wrote, produced and recorded the EP completely on their own, and IMO, they did a fine job. Take “Disasters are Avoidable” as a prime example.
The arcing guitars that open the song have that pure, late-90’s punk sound. The rhythms are made to inspire circle pits and fists in the air. The track rolls along with a big gang chorus and lyrics about pushing through adversity (“I knew the only way out was through”) even at a cost (“We’re burning bridges”).
If this sounds like the kind of punk rock you’re into, listen to the song now in our Bangers of the Week playlist!
