Banger of the Week: Eater Life – I Should of Walked All the Way Home

So as I’m writing this, I’m realizing that though new New York punk rock band Eater Life, had submitted the song “I Should of Walked All the Way Home” to me, the song attached to the submission was actually an older track, “Offstage”. Thankfully, while I had agreed to cover them based on that grungy, Hole-indebted track, when I listened to the song they seemed to have meant to send me, I found myself a fan of that song too.

The song leans more pop-punk, with the sugar buzz vocals falling somewhere between early Good Charlotte and later Descendents. The guitars thankfully don’t lose any edge, and the drum production keeps the percussion raw and dirty. The band gets a little freakier on the bridge, with some quirky keys sneaking in to give the song a bit of an art punk flare. But at its base, the track is a rush of joyful, moshable rock n’ roll that will sate your sweet tooth but also give you a spiky bite.
