Halfway through the month, and things are simmering (both referring to the California heat, and the music burning up our playlists).
This Friday we’re getting some political punk rock from Rise Against, raging hard rock from Chevelle, elevated hip hop from Chance the Rapper, eclectic indie rock from San Gabriel (read our review of it here), and emotional folk rock from Billy Raffoul (read our review of it here). Lastly, we have the latest EP from rising alt country superstar Sam Barber.
Mayday Parade announced the second part of their current album trilogy with the drop of a new track, while Dance Gavin Dance have teamed up with George Clinton on their latest single. The Happy Fits keep making me happy with their new tunes, while the new Militarie Gun track is definitely not a “Bad Idea”. King Princess shares her love for ‘girls” in her new track, while David Byrne explores the “Avant Garde”.
The Iron Roses are calling folks to “Fight Back”, while Iglu & Hartly are hoping for a “Big Break”. The Beaches crown the “Lesbian of the Year”, while The Hives proclaim themselves, forever. Steve Lacy is back with new music, “New Shoes”, while Yellowcard reminisce about “Bedroom Posters”. There’s more great folk rock from Ruston Kelly, Josh Ritter and Wax Owls, and Pepper giving their take on a Bad Religion classic. The Temper Trap are back with their first new song in ages, while Jensen McRae has shared a song from the upcoming soundtrack of Highest 2 Lowest.
We’ve also included singles from Indy Review vets like Autoheart, Imaginary People, Foot Ox, The Wild Things, Winter Andrews, Fruit Bats, I Prevail, Friendship Commanders, Skizzy Mars, Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, Joelton Mayfield, Besphrenz, Spite House, Jont, Neko Case, Langhorne Slim, Trestles, JT Loux, The 502s, The Favors, Flo Gallop, Goose, Vernon Reid, Hail the Sun, Newton Faulkner, For Closure, Half Dizzy, Tiberius, Katie Pruitt and The Boy Detective.
