It often feels more common to see artists from the pop/rock work try their hands at composing scores, than the other way around. In this way, Josh Kramon, who has made a name for himself composing music for iconic television shows like Veronica Mars, High Potential, iZombie and Lethal Weapon, is a unique entity, as he shared his folk-rock album evolutions, under the name Kramon, last week.

For the albums latest single “Change”, Kramon had the multitalented Meredith Adelaide direct and star in the track’s video, which I am pleased to be able to premiere today before it is widely shared this coming Friday. Adelaide gives us some insight into the video below:
In parallel with Kramon‘s plural of “evolutions,” there are so many stages to growing and evolving as a human, I couldnt resist but create this video as a way to explore how I myself am in the process of some major change.
I’ve been privately evolving my fine art self portraiture into music and motion picture, and for this video I decided to give both my unconscious self and conscious self the stage. What I’ve been finding is that even though i’m so optimistic and easily support others in my life, that the self talk is actually quite intense. I know this to be universal, and I almost didn’t notice the negative voice until I started putting this project together.
I brought on cinematographer Tamara Santos, choreographer Liv Mai, and wardrobe stylist Jane Spencer to create a world in which these two parts of me have a tough conversation– all through dance– the movements represent how the unconscious affects the conscious, and how it can feel like an internal fight to actually change– what we ultimately uncover is that the only way to truly change is from a gentle and accepting lens.
I won’t spoil the video, but I have a feeling people are going to feel relief that someone is saying the things that are hard to say.
Josh has been an incredible collaborator in support of my vision for “Change” — it takes a whole village to support an artist, and having us as a multi-generational kind of dream team has given me extra excitement to add my voice to the vision, as I am in process of promoting my own album later this year.
