New Music Friday: August 29, 2025

It’s Labor Day weekend. Summer 2025 is bidding us farewell (though the heat isn’t), and falling into our speakers are some excellent “The” bands with new albums. These include raucous Swedish rockers The Hives, Canadian alt pop band The Beaches, beloved indie darlings The Beths and alternative noisemakers The Technicolors (read our review of the new album here).

Indie rock stars Spoon have returned with two new tracks to preview their next album. Thrice have unveiled the second single from their next album, while Jagwar Twin sucks you into his ‘loop’. Bright Eyes are joined by Hurray for the Riff Raff on their new single, while Cisco Adler has brought Andy Frasco & The U.N. in for his new track. There’s more power pop from White Reaper, and as Hayley Williams releases his previous 17 singles as an official album, she’s given us one more new track with it which we have for you.

Bon Jovi has a new song from his upcoming duet version of his last album that is full of Jersey pride. Soul great Mavis Staples is still gracing us with new music after all these years, and the Alabama Shakes have finally come back with new music for us! Been too long. Bryce Vine, Runnner, TJ Rosenthal, Wilby, David Cultura, The Anti Groupies, Have Mercy, Teen Jesus & the Jean Teasers, Pynch, fanclubwallet, Glimmer, The Chelsea Curve, Project Overload, Retirement Party, Record Thieves, The Paradox, Medium Build, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Balu Brigada, The Midnight, Soft Hearted Scientists, Sawyer Utah, Geese, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Sunbendr, Stay the Course are also all back on the list this week with new tracks.

And appearing for the first time in our list this week are House & Home, False Futures, Damn Tall Buildings, Lillian King, Luan Luan, Hockey Dad, Jack Xander, Ida Maria, The Animeros, Octoberman, Badterms, Ella Ion, Zada, Alana Hill, Killah Cortez, Little Billy Lost, Mitch Sanders, Michelle Núñez, Palejoy and Sadlands.

Enjoy all of this music in our New Music Friday Playlist.
