I hope you all had a nice Labor Day weekend. I’m preparing to have an Oasis weekend, seeing the band at The Rose Bowl tomorrow! I am quite excited, as you should be as you’re about to get a lot of great new music to listen to.
Talking Heads legend David Byrne is back with a new solo album, filled with features from friends like Hayley Williams and St. Vincent. Another famous frontman, Rob Thomas, has dropped his latest solo album, and we have incredible folk rock from Brian Dunne and Big Thief. Mod revivalists The Modbeats have their new album out, and another group channeling retro sounds, Tchotchke, will please any fan of classic girl groups (our reviewer certainly enjoyed it). Curtis Harding‘s style of soul channels the classics while sounding 100% modern, and rising singer-songwriter Josie Edwards, who has attained some well-earned TikTok fame, is ready to hit the next level with her new EP.
Australian songwriter Vance Joy has returned with a new song to continue his string of hits, while State Champs continue to carry the pop-punk flag and wave it high on their new one. Winona Fighter show love to The Beastie Boys with their new cover, while Portugal. The Man find inspiration in the Alaskan peak “Denali”. The Living End‘s new one won’t cause any ‘misery’, while Rare Americans crown a “Punk Rock King”. The legendary Robert Plant has a new track out, while his countrywomen The Last Dinner Party have shared the second new track from their next album.
After just seeing him live, Jack Van Cleaf is releasing an expanded version of his new album, and we’ve got the new tracks from that in the list today. The Get Up Kids‘ Matt Pryor announced his new solo album and shared the first track from it, while Matisyahu returns to his rap/reggae roots on his new song. We’ve got two new songs from Of Monsters and Men, and another banger from Biffy Clyro. There’s also an incredible new rock collab from Evanescence‘s Amy Lee, Spiritbox‘s Courtney LaPlante, and Poppy.
