The release schedule is gently cooling down with the weather this week, giving us a brief respite before the fall onslaught begins.
The most notable new album we’ve got for you today comes from alternative duo Twenty One Pilots. Of course, you shouldn’t sleep on the new albums from folk-rock troubadours Ruston Kelly and Fruit Bats, indie rocker Matt Maeson, Imaginary People (read our review of it here) or the latest from 80’s survivors The Chameleons (read that review here).
The beloved Mountain Goats have returned with an ‘army’, while AFI are sharing their “Holy Vision”. Ben Bridwell and Iron & Wine want to know what love is, while The Iron Roses are out to “Burn” our ears with their new banger. The lead Old 97 Rhett Miller has a new solo song out, while the iconic Juliana Hatfield has shared her first new solo single in a long while. Margaret Glaspy is joined by James Bay for a lovely Jackson Browne cover, while folk rocker Josh Ritter provides another beautiful track all his own.
Gorillaz have made a surprise return, joined by indie iconoclasts Sparks. Sullvn cover one of my favorite 90’s tracks, while Coheed & Cambria share the first of our new tracks from a deluxe edition of their latest album. MORGXN‘s new single is bound to be “Evergreen”, while the Cold War Kids express “Hyperempathy” to us all. And the new Limp Bizkit single…what can I say – it made me laugh.
Also out with splashy new singles this week are Saiphon, Hot Lobby, Twirlies, Carmen Toth, Pamplemousse, Bob Schneider, The Paper Kites, Mayday Parade, Ivan Nicolas, Silverstein, The Penske File, Jon Muq, Dial Drive, dust, Armor for Sleep, Militarie Gun, Paul Schalda, daydreamers, Ray and Paul, Trestles, Arts Fishing Club, Derek Smith & The Cosmic Vultures, Natalie Shay, Great Lake Swimmers, Half Dizzy, Andrew Bird, The Nervous Eaters, The Boy Detective, For Closure, Stephen Day, Without Willow, Tiberius, The Glorious Sons and Jukebox The Ghost.
And if you want some fresh names with fresh music, we’ve got new songs from The James Hunter Six, Peter Muller, Luisho, The Mendozaz, The Catastrophes, The Macks, The Mary Onettes, Charlie Kogen, Westbound Train, Ink, Ace Enders, Cheap Perfume, Rianne Downey, Guitar, Celeste Krishna, James Correa, Revis, 37 Houses, The Minimum Wage, Valley Onda, Jorge Wilson, SORRYNOTSORRY, Side Hug, Fields of Jake, Halley Neal and Clara Cloud.
