So tomorrow, I am getting married! This means I may not even have time to listen to all of this week’s new releases (but I’ll sure try).
New releases like the long-awaited return of Motion City Soundtrack. Or the debut album from Finneas/Ashe collaboration The Favors. Or the new one from indie darlings Wednesday. Or from melodic punks The Oxys (see our review of it here). Kennyhoopla also has his latest EP out.
Wicca Phase Springs Eternal are joined by Ethel Caine on their new single. Norway’s Cocktail Slippers have a thrilling new track out, while Kula Shaker are shaking us with some “Good Money”. The All-American Rejects are throwing a “Search Party”, while folk troupe Midlake have returned with a delicious new single. There’s a new song from Petey USA, Joelton Mayfield is working his way up my top new songwriters list with his latest single, and ZZ Ward reminds us of her talents with a first taste of a deluxe edition of her album Liberation.
This is also a week of wild collaborations. First, after a tease during the VMAs, Yungblud and Aerosmith have announced a collaborative EP, with the first single out today. Next, if you’re wondering what a mash-up of My Chemical Romance and The Interrupters would sound like, then today is your lucky day, as Gerard Way has teamed up with members of The Interrupters to form The Mock-Ups, and we have their first single. Miley Cyrus is joined by two members of Fleetwood Mac on a new single, and there’s also another new unexpected combination out – Faith No More‘s Mike Patton with the Avett Brothers, as AVTT/PTTN.
There’s more big names like All Time Low, The Lemonheads, Durry, The Bouncing Souls, The Paradox and Alkaline Trio with new singles out. Also returning to the list this week are Kashena Sampson, Breakup Shoes, Briscoe, Katy Guillen & The Drive, Public Opinion, Captain Kaiser, Templeton Pek, Banquets, Footballhead, The Wombats, Summerbruise, Arkayla, Good Luck, John Witherspoon, Maygen & The Birdwatcher, Tommy Emmanuel, Jack Schneider, Heather Aubrey Lloyd, Chloë Wilson, Jay Feelbender, Lettuce, Friendship Commanders, Bones Shredder, Hail the Sun, People R Ugly, The Cocktail Slippers, Abandcalledlove, Sadlands, Justin Webb & The Noise, girlfriends, Ripe, Shwayze, Finger Eleven, Garfield Mayor, Ocean Alley, Bad Wolves and Madi Diaz.
And if you want to discover some new bands, you’ll hear Fulton Lights, Bloom, Figures on a Beach, Zoco, Eight Feet Fine, Lasse Lokoy, Soen, Bastion Hollow, Amelia Coburn, Shane Weisman, Woods, Abi Carter, Gatlin Black, Richie Owens, Tony DV, Bird Streets, Maxwell Stern, Oslo, Cindy Lawson, The Urban Renewal Project, Ana Luna, Ryley Tate Wilson and The New Condition for the first time on the list this week.
Enjoy all these tunes in our New Music Friday Playlist!
