It all comes back to the blues. Soul, rock, funk and rap all can trace their origins to blues music. Jimi Fiano is well aware. A modern blues rock guitarist, Fiano has been keeping the spirit of the genre alive, though with his own gritty, soulful spin on it. The first single from his debut EP, “Strangled by the Hands of Time” is a great example.
Though built off of Fiano’s stylish guitar playing, the song’s rhythm guitar brings a warm, acoustic jangle to the song. As a vocalist, Fiano carries his years of experience in his voice, giving a gravitas and soul to the track that is lifted further by the female backing vocals accompanying him. The song sounds like it should be played on classic rock radio alongside Creedence Clearwater Revival and Buddy Guy.
