EP Review: MEGG – Low Life Club

The second I heard this EP I knew I wanted to write about MEGG. She’s an alternative/pop-punk artist originally from Redondo Beach, California. Her music is full of bratty, fearless anthems for the misfits, lovers and loudmouths and the full EP will be yours to listen to on October 24th. The EP features a collection of six raw and unapologetic tracks, of which four were released as singles.

MEGG shares: “Low Life Club feels like the unofficial soundtrack to the West Coast and is easily some of the best music I’ve ever put out. It’s multidimensional – the heaviness, the vulnerability, the riot, the vocal chops, the nostalgia, the party and everything in between. It’s got a little something for everyone. I’m really proud of these songs and stoked to give them to my fans.”

Lets get into the EP itself – the track list is as follows: “IDC”, “I Bet You Like That”, “Get Over It”, “Clarity”, “The End” & “Low Life Club”. Starting with the first single “The End”, you get to see a sense of what this EP is going to be about: gritty, head-banging, screaming an absolute smash. I love the way her second single “Get Over It” starts. It’s so fun, the guitar hits so hard and it has a chorus everyone can relate to. The third single that comes with a super sick music video is “IDC”, an anthem about not caring about anything and yelling about it. Literally no notes for this one. I can’t wait to scream it in my car. “Clarity” is the last of the singles, which was released on October 10th. This one serves angst and vocals as track four of the EP!

Onto the last two unreleased tracks, we have “I Bet You Like That”, which starts with a few “woofs” and that is just so iconic. This might be my favorite off the EP for the relatability of lyrics and the driving instrumentation. An anthem for the girls for sure. Lastly we have the title track “Low Life Club”. This song gives Kesha vibes to me, one of my favorite artists truly. A song you’d sit around singing with your friends at the campfire – all vibes. One of the best EPs released this year and must listen for anyone who likes alternative/pop-punk music.
